I got an email from Eleanor today, they have a small apple crop this year, and are planning to complete the cidering on the 31st. If she has any apples left that need a home she will let us know after the 31st.
Stay tuned for more info.

Winter Squash
Winter Squash picking is finally upon us!
We will meet at the Farm on Friday October 16th at 9:30 AM. Kathy says she has only a little bit of squash for us this year, but we are happy to accept what ever she has.
If you have a few boxes bring them along.
See you at the farm!

Last Regular Day of Picking!
I can't believe that the summer has flown by so fast! Today was our last regular picking day. It has been a wonderfully successful season, to date we have harvested 10,256 pounds of vegetables, valued at $16,770.00 and have provided the citizens of Carroll County with 13,020 vegetable meals.
I will tally the final amounts once all of the reports have been turned in, it looks like our totals are down a bit from last year, but there was a week when , due to the weather there was nothing for us to pick.
We will be collecting winter squash, usually mid-October and possibly apples, late October, when they are ready. Keep an eye on the blog as I will post the proposed picking dates for both of our end of season crops.
Thank you to all of the Master Gardeners, Community Volunteers and especially to the Sherman Farm for your help and generosity in making this program possible!

Picking Monday and Wednesday
Greetings Veggie Volunteers! Kathy says there will be Corn to pick on Monday, possibly some squash as well. Wednesday should also have some Corn and Squash.
It is hard to believe but the Summer picking season is drawing to a close. Our last regular picking day will be Wednesday September 2nd. In mid October, depending on the frost date, Kathy will call us to come get Winter Squash.
We may also be called on to help pick and distribute Apples again this year, I will post any info on picking.
So, come on out to the farm on Monday and Wednesday to help with the last of the 2009 V V P and remember to keep checking the blog to see when squash will be ready.
